87.4% of European SMEs don't use AI.

The EU's new strategy addresses this head-on with Digital Innovation Hubs across 85% of EU regions. But here's what I see talking to companies: the barrier isn't complexity or cost. It's trust.

"How do we know it won't make mistakes we can't catch?"

The EU is investing €1B to solve this through "human-centric and trustworthy AI." They're solving the right problem.

The SMEs that adopt AI successfully won't be the ones who trust the technology blindly. They'll be the ones who see exactly where humans fit in the system — and design their workflows accordingly.

The technology is ready. The accountability architecture is not. That's the gap worth closing.
